Terms and Conditions – The Academy of Ceol

Welcome to The Academy of Ceol. By enrolling in any of our classes, including singing lessons, piano lessons, and Mini Musicians, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Enrollment and Fees

• All lessons must be booked in advance, either as a term block or individual sessions (subject to availability).

• Payment must be made prior to the commencement of the first lesson of the term to secure your place.

• Fees are non-refundable except under specific circumstances outlined below.

• A place in a class is only confirmed once payment has been received.

2. Cancellations and Refunds

• Missed classes by the student will not be refunded. This includes illness, holidays, or other personal commitments.

• Make-up classes are not guaranteed but may be offered at the discretion of the Academy if space is available.

• If a class is cancelled by the Academy (e.g. tutor illness), we will offer either a make-up session or credit towards future lessons.

• In the event of government-mandated closures (e.g. lockdowns), lessons may be delivered online.

3. Notice of Withdrawal

• A minimum of 2 weeks’ written notice is required if a student intends to withdraw from a term or discontinue lessons.

• If less than 2 weeks’ notice is given, the full term fee remains payable.

4. Punctuality and Attendance

• Students are expected to arrive on time for their lessons. Lessons will end at the scheduled time regardless of late arrival.

• Regular attendance is essential for progress. Repeated absences may result in the loss of your place.

5. Health and Safety

• Students must inform the Academy of any allergies, medical conditions, or learning needs that may impact participation.

• The Academy is not responsible for accidents or injuries sustained during class time, although all reasonable precautions will be taken.

• In case of illness (e.g. flu, contagious disease), students are asked to stay home to protect the health of others.

6. Code of Conduct

• Respectful behaviour is expected from all students, parents, and guardians.

• Disruptive, inappropriate, or aggressive behaviour may result in immediate dismissal from the Academy without refund.

• The Academy reserves the right to cancel a student’s enrolment at any time if these terms are not followed.

7. Photography and Media Consent

• Occasionally, photos or videos may be taken for promotional use on our website or social media.

• Parents/guardians will be asked to sign a media release form. Consent is optional and can be withdrawn at any time in writing.

• As part of the activities and promotion at The Academy of Ceol, we occasionally capture photos and videos during classes, performances, and other events. These media may be used for promotional materials, including but not limited to social media posts, websites, brochures, and advertisements.

• 7.1 Waiver of Liability

• I understand that my child’s participation in any photos or videos taken during Academy activities will be done under safe conditions. I also understand that once the image/video is posted online or used in promotional materials, it may be publicly accessible.

• I agree to release The Academy of Ceol and its agents from any claims arising from the use of my child’s image and/or video for these purposes.

8. Data Protection

• All personal information collected is kept in accordance with GDPR and local data protection laws.

• Your information will never be shared with third parties without your consent.

9. Changes to Terms

• The Academy reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated in writing.

ONLINE Singing Lessons Terms & Conditions

By purchasing any of the Online Singing Lesson Packages from The Academy of Ceol, you agree to the following terms:

1. Booking & Payment

   • All lessons must be booked in advance.

   • Payment for the package or individual lesson is required before the first lesson to confirm your booking.

   • Your place is only secured once payment has been received.

2. Rescheduling & Cancellations

   • You may cancel or reschedule a lesson with at least 24 hours’ notice.

   • If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, the lesson will be forfeited.

   • If The Academy of Ceol must cancel, you will be offered either a make-up session or a credit toward future lessons.

3. Missed Lessons

   • Lessons missed by the student (due to illness, holiday, or otherwise) are non-refundable.

   • Make-up lessons may be arranged only if agreed in advance and subject to tutor and schedule availability.

4. Duration & Expiry

   • Monthly Packs (4 lessons) must be used within 5 weeks from the date of purchase.

   • Intensive Packs (8 lessons) must be used within 6 weeks from the date of first lesson.

   • Starter Session / Pay-As-You-Go: one-time purchase; no expiry unless otherwise notified.

5. Punctuality & Attendance

   • Please be ready and logged in at the agreed lesson start time. The lesson will finish at the scheduled end time regardless of arrival time.

   • Consistent attendance is encouraged to achieve progress. Repeated absences may lead to reconsideration of the student’s continuing enrolment.

6. Technical Requirements

   • Student must provide stable internet, webcam/video capability, and a good microphone or headset.

   • The Academy of Ceol aims to ensure smooth delivery; however, if technical issues arise on your side, these do not entitle refund unless tutor’s system fails.

7. Code of Conduct

   • All students, and where applicable parents/guardians, are expected to behave respectfully and courteously.

   • Disruptive, abusive or inappropriate behaviour may result in suspension or termination of lessons without refund.

8. Media / Promotional Consent

   • The Academy of Ceol may record or capture photos/videos during lessons or performances for promotional uses (website, social media, brochures etc.).

   • Consent can be given or withheld. If you do not wish your image/audio to be used, please notify in writing.

9. Data Protection & Privacy

   • Personal data will be processed in accordance with GDPR and relevant local data protection regulations.

   • We will not share your data with third parties without your consent.

10. Changes to Terms

    • The Academy of Ceol reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on the website and communicated to existing students/clients.
